Stuck on DFU after upgrading to 5.1.1 on 3GS

    Hi guys!

I'm creating the following post so as to ask some help regarding an issue that I've started experiencing today.

Earlier today, I upgraded my iOS from 4.2.1 to 5.1.1. I preserved my baseband, which was 6.15. My iPhone 3GS was originally hacktivated and jailbroken.

Just in case it's useful, I'll explain how I did the modification. I acquired an original 5.1.1 IPSW file and, using redsn0w 0.9.12b2 I created a custom one. The custom one preserved my baseband and was for old bootroom, which is my iPhone's (as indicated by redsn0w). I put my phone into DFU mode via redsn0w and shift+restored my iPhone with the custom IPSW I had created.

Once the whole installation process concluded, I jailbroke it to install Cydia in it (via redsn0w as well). When it was installed, I opened my phone, downloaded ultrasn0w and Rocky Raccoon from Cydia and installed them. Everything worked perfectly well.

Later during the day, I accidentally dropped my phone from a really low height and this caused it to instantly go into DFU mode. I have been unable to turn it back on ever since. I can go to the recovery screen and get it in and out from the DFU mode, however, I cannot restore firmwares, as I get different error messages from iTunes (1600, 1602 and 2005 mostly).

Something that's really odd though is that, if I connect my iPhone to my car phone charger, the phone will be able to turn on. However, once it's on, it doesn't receive any signal from my SIM, it does not allow me to receive Wi Fi and it does not allow me to receive Blootooth signal. Moreover, the battery icon indicates that it's 100% and before I had this incident it was in about 50%.

By the way, I already tried with iREB, TinyUmbrella and sn0wbreeze as well but none worked.

What can I do to get it back up and running?

    Thanks in advance!

Open the iPhone make sure everything is connect properly, your case is extremely strange.

I opened the phone, everything was OK but, just in case, I disconnected everything, and connected it again. Still the issue persists.

    Hi,

(excuse me, i'll try to write in english)

there's some things you do that i don't understand.

1)why you make a custom firmware, i update mine directly from itunes from 4.2.1 to 5.1.1 without problem.

2)why you install rocky racoon, redsnow is already untethered for newiboot et oldiboot, mine is newiboot and works perfectly without rocky racoon installed.

    3)why you use ultrasnow ???

    i've a 3gs newiboot, update from 4.2.1 to 5.1.1 from itunes.
after i put cydia with 0.9.12b2 + appsync and restore my backup, everything works perfectly.

    regards

You most likely damaged hardware. The unlock seems to have gone smooth. Try the custom firmware you used before. Apple is still signing it. Just make sure you enter PWNED DFU mode first.
