[Urgent] iPhone Bricked! - Please help!

Hello,

I am new to this iPhone thing. I have got my iPhone from my granny and it's iPhone 4 (Based on the model No) and GSM version.

I tried to use DFU and use iPhone3,1_5.1_9B176_Restore firmware and it's now in recovery mode and it does not accept the firmware from iTunes.

Please help. I am clueless where to start. I just want to be on the latest version!

I think you have the iphone 3 restore firmware... i could be wrong but im almost CERTAIN you have the wrong firmware. Google iphone firmware and look for a site that felixbruns. you can find in the list iPhone 4 (GSM) (5.1.1/9B206)
I did not post link because idk if i can or not. Sry if saying that much was wrong on my part.

Yes, i got the firmware. When I try to restore that firmware, I'm getting an error. Could you please tell me the steps to upgrade my phone to the latest?

DFU restore with iTunes and set up as new. You'll be on the latest firmware for your device.

DFU and iTunes says update and restore to latest...5.1 or something. I'm trying that! will let you guys know!

i get iPhone could not be restored 1603. This is official restore.!!

Are you on the latest version of iTunes?

Maybe try a different usb port and reset your sync history in iTunes.

Update iTunes and make sure it's on the latest version
Plug in the phone, use redsn0w to put it into pwned DFU mode and restore (NOT update) through iTunes

For which version should I restore? Any file to download (IPSW file?) Please help!

EDIT: Restarted my pc, Removed and reinstalled itunes yet I get 1603

I'm trying DFU+ restore again!(with another usb now)
