It’s finally here folks! The newest version of RedSn0w has just been released and allows users to downgrade their iPhone 4S, iPad 2, or new iPad! Downgrading firmwares to iOS 5.0.1 will allow you to jailbreak (untethered) your iPhone 4S or iPad 2!
Head inside for a step-by-step guide on how to downgrade firmwares now:
Note: In order to downgrade, you must have your SHSH blobs saved for iOS 5.0.1, either through TinyUmbrella or Cydia.
Step 1: Download the latest version of RedSn0w 0.9.11b1 (Mac • Windows).
Step 2: Download the latest iOS 5.1.1 firmware for your idevice (links here). You will also need to download the 5.0.1 firmware.
Step 3: Put your idevice into DFU mode.
Step 4: Run RedSn0w, plug your device in and make sure RedSn0w detects it in DFU mode. Go to Extras > Restore and click IPSW. RedSn0w will than ask you for the iOS 5.0.1 IPSW so locate it. After that, RedSn0w will again ask for the latest firmware (iOS 5.1.1), find and choose it.
Step 5: After both firmwares are recognized, you will then need to find your SHSH blobs. If your device has been jailbroken before, you should have the blobs in Cydia and will be able to use the Remote option. If you haven’t jailbroken before and used TinyUmbrella, you’ll need to choose local and find the blobs on your computer.
Step 6: After finding your blobs, RedSn0w will install a hacked version of the latest firmware than downgrade your device to iOS 5.0.1.
Step 7: You will then get a success message! You’ve now downgraded your device! Make sure to head over to Settings > General > About to verify that you are running iOS 5.0.1.
You can now jailbreak your A5 device by using Absinthe or even RedSn0w! You can check out our step-by-step guide on how to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 and find help in the forums. Let us know how it goes for you!

I don't think you can dump shsh blobs with this method from iPad 3, my assumption is that you have to had fetched them from apple servers before the latest iOS was released.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Also, Even if you have jail broken your device prior.
And you tried to fetch it from remote (cydia server)
The error could show up saying:
couldn't find 5.0.1 (9A406/or whichever 5.0.1 you are trying to downgrade to) blobs for
this device on the Cydia server.
So, for newer jailbreakers, i don't think just because you jailbroke it, that doesn't guarantee
their SHSHs are saved automatically to cydia.
Cuz, that is what I'm facing it currently.
(My phone was jailbroken with absinth v3) before i had to restore and which forced me to update iOS to 5.1.

Ya likely the best method is to always dump the shsh blobs to cydia and also keep a copy of the blobs on your personal computer or remote drive.
Google drive for example.
So does this mean i can downgrade my iPhone 4s thats 5.1 by upgrading to 5.1.1 then downgrade to 5.0.1 to allow jailbreak???? Or should i wait for Pod2g's exploit??
Edit: Nevermind on my question, i found my answer!!

I can confirm that this downgrade procedure and program is working! successfully downgraded my wife's 4S ios 5.1.1 to 5.0.1 without problems... thanks to the redsnow team and mr. emil.kako for posting this procedure....
I just tried my iPhone 4s and it worked perfectly using RedSnow 0.9.11b2, Thanks to everybody involved helping us end users.
yeah and its the most simplest method so far in downgrading... no need to do anything but wait.... really great work and effort to the redsnow dev team....
how to downgrade the new ipad to 5.0.1 = =

btw can jailbreak 5.1 (the new ipad)?
HI,
Is there a way of checking if cydia has your SHSH blobs? My iphone 4s was jailbroken on 5.01 and I used cydia, but I don't want to get half way though the process of downgrading only to find it fail as my blobs are not on the server.
I'm a iPhone noob so didn't realise the importance of backing these up![]()
