My wife's friend is trying to sell us an Iphone 4 from AT&T. I wanted to see if it was possible to unlock it before we paid for it, so she gave me the phone under the pretense I would pay her or give the phone back, depending what I find out. So I read up & jailbroke it, but it will only boot tethered. It is ios 4.3.5. When I boot not tethered, it boots semi-jailbroken. Actually I can't even get it to boot tethered now. I found the baseband is 04.10.01, which is yet to be cracked AFAIK. My only option that I can find is the Gevey sim and it's archaic boot ritual. I can't really see my wife (non tech savvy) doing this, nor booting tethered on a regular basis. I want to give the phone back, but now I've modified it. When she goes to sell it, whoever she sells it to might give her grief about how it boots semi-jailbroken. I need to un-jailbreak it and give it back in the same condition I got it in. Is it possible?
Plug your iPhone into the computer, open up iTunes, and click update, that will restore the phone to iOS 5.1 and "un-jailbreak" it.
Thanks, got it. I see now that I'm 5.1 and my baseband is now 4.12.01. Is this combination any more unlockable than 4.3.5 & 4.10.01?
