Dead iPhone

Hi, folks. I had a 3gs dropped on me a while ago, then my mate had to borrow it. A Spanish shop hacked it, it seemed to work fine. Then it was lent out to a girl, now it's dead. It's showing the fabled "Please connect me to your PC" logo, but it won't take a new OS from iTunes, as it's been hacked. So.
I'm looking for a way to clear the damned thing, throw any kind of OS into it, just to use it's streaming video function (MJPEGs are buggers with other phones...)

Any suggestions (other than don't lend out phones to mates..?

Custom iOS 5.1 unjailbroken if you need it unlocked install the iPad baseband but it'll be a tethered jailbreak.

The reason it's not taking any iOS is likely the bb was flashed with the iPad bb, sn0wbreeze iOS 5.1 hacktivate and install cydia if you want to unlock it.
