[Help] iPhone 3GS

Hi,
I’m from Juarez MX in the border line with El Paso TX; recently (1 week) I bought an AT&T iPhone 3GS 8GB unlocked/jailbreak with the iOS v4.1 (8B117) / Modem Firmware 06.15.00
My concern it’s that the person who sell me the iPhone toll me that NEVER upgrade the iOS because I will lose the unlocked/jailbreak, it’s that true O.o?. If not TRUE please PLEASE help me to upgrade my iOS without losing the unlock n’ jailbreak because with these iOS 4.1 I can’t install a bunch of apps/games because always request a 4.3 iOS

I really appreciate your help towards this request.

Yes you'd lose the unlock and jailbreak. And 5.1 is only an tethered for now

There's an ultrasn0w fix for iOS 5.1 I know cuz my wife has it on her 3Gs on 5.1
