If u are on Vista/win7, go to

    C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software

Delete the ipsw file and try restore again...

sent from "a galaxy far far away"

Hold power and home together for *exactly* 10 seconds
Release power but keep holding home until the pc beeps as a USB device is recognized.

If that's what you tried, then maybe try a restore with a custom ipsw

Use the ipsw for the last version it was working on

and try restoring with redsn0w or another program instead of iTunes
