    Upgrade to iOS6

First of all: I understand that I will lose jailbreak when I update to the new iOS 6 and I am completely ok with that.

My question is what do I have to do to backup iOS 5 in case I want to go back?
Also, do I have to install all my apps again after the update? And what about wallpapers, ringtones and so on?

Please help, I am pretty new to iOS but I really want to try the update.

You can't go back unless you have SHSH blobs saved for iOS 5.1.1

You need to be on iOS 5.1.1 and use an app like iSHSHit to save your SHSH blobs. Then using the app you need to send them to yourself via email. If you do not done this before upgrading, then you will be stuck on iOS 6. iSHSHit is available in Cydia.
