Are there European/USA versions of the iphone?

My sister is going to spend a few months in Europe, and I'm looking to buy a tri-band phone (900/1800/2100) so she can get full coverage (including 3G) in Europe. I know iPhones can support Euro tri-bands, but I was wondering if ALL iphones in the US support both US and Euro bands, or if there are two different types for Euro and US. (My plan is to buy an iphone 3gs off of ebay (at&t version) so it can be used in both USA and Europe with 3g and everything)

    Thanks!

Yes.. all iPhones should work in most major countries. There really is very little difference in US and EU iPhones other than the branding of phones (carrier lock)

I can point out that thr 4S has the "world phone" brand meaning it will work in all countries..
