Cool BBM on the iPod Touch

As of the 1.0.4 update this guide is no longer relevant. They have officially added iPod Touch and iPad support.

Note: Starting with version 1.0.3 this guide does not work. I am currently working on a way to bypass this.

Use version 1.0.2 or 1.0.108 then upgrade to 1.0.3 until I find a workaround for 1.0.3

So the messaging app BBM(BlackBerry Messenger) is now out for both Android and iOS. Currently it is iPhone/iPad only but there is a way to get it on your iPod Touch.

    1) Download BBM using iTunes.
    2) Open up iFunBox if you have it. If not download it. You will need the 2.7 or 2.6 version.
    3) With iFunBox open click on "iFunBox Classic". It is on the top left of the window.
    4) Click on "Install App". It has a green arrow pointing down next to it.
    5) Navigate to C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Mobile Applications and double click on BBM.ipa (replace username with the name you logged in as. For example I would replace username with Jennifer)
    6) Wait for it to install. It should say "Result of the last app installation: 1 succeeded, 0 failed."
    7) Open up Cydia on your device and install "User Agent Faker". It'll respring your device after.
    8) After it's resprung, open up your settings and scroll down to "User Agent Faker" and tap on it.
    9) Tap where it says" User Agent" and scroll down and tap on "Custom"
    10) Tap "User Agent Faker" on the top left
    11) Tap where it says "Custom User Agent" and put "BBIdentity iPhone/0.1.5/iOS 6.1.2/" without the quotes
    12) Tap on "Applications" and enable BBM
    13) You're done. That is it. You now have BBM on your device.

Note: You may have to try and register a few times.

It seems that version 1.0.3 patched the hole that would allow iPods to do the initial setup. I am currently working on a way around this. In the meantime, if you have an iPad or iPhone you can set it up on that, then copy it to the iPod.

You can upgrade to 1.0.3 after. I used 1.0.2 then upgraded to 1.0.3 myself and it works.

There's a few bug fixes according to the changelog, but it doesn't specify which bugs are fixed.
