My theory on how to unlock my 4.11.08bb iphone 4

Ok, I made a big blunder and upgraded my unlocked iphone 4, 4.11.08bb running ios5.0 to ios5.1.1. I came up with this theory on how I could unlock it again. Since Apple has patched the SAM exploit within ios5.1.1. I figured I would downgrade to ios5.1(yes, I saved my blobs for 5.1). To my knowledge SAM works on ios5.1, I figured after downgrading I would unlock the phone with SAM, then save my activation ticket. I would then upgrade back to ios5.1.1 and unlock with SAM using my ticket of course. If this sounds plausible, my only concern is will downgrading change my baseband?.....its just a theory!!

You can only downgrade baseband firmwares if Apple servers are still signing that baseband version.

The sam activation ticket if saved when it was working would still work in iOS 5.1.1

But your baseband upgraded, so I don't think it would work.

There is NO way to downgrade a baseband on the iPhone 4, even if you downgrade the firmware.

Try it and let us know.

I'm not trying to downgrade the baseband. I just want to make sure my baseband is preserved when downgrading the ios.

like in the previous post my goal is not to downgrade the baseband. I actually want to keep 4.11.08. The goal is to get SAM working again so I can save the activation ticket, which I failed to do the first time I unlocked it.

I know Apple patched it with 5.1.1 but it worked with earlier ios. that's the whole point in my theory. unless you know something I don't as far as how they went about patching it?

They had to sign some ticket specific to your device, and I think the new baseband may prevent it from working too.

    Try it and see.
