Traveling ASAP need help unlocking iPhone 3GS

Soo long story here...I had my Samsung Galaxy S rooted and unlocked for international use with AOKP it was great. I was just getting settled in and smash! I slammed the car door shut on it cracking the screen. Now I cannot use it. I managed to get a hold of an iPhone 3GS and have no experience with iPhones, but I have jailbroken it using redsn0w and now as far as I know I just need to unlock it... I was wondering if someone can guide me as I will be traveling to South Korea very shortly and would like to be able to use my own phone there so I can just get a sim.

    Version 5.1.1 (9B206)
    Modem Firmware 05.16.05

I am a little confused do i use ultrasn0w, gevey or ipad baseband?? this is where you can see I am a novice. I have already tried to ultrasn0w but after I lost all signal and had no service and had to restore.

Please help my flight is fairly soon.

You need to install the iPad bb through redsn0w but before rushing off and blindly installing it make sure your iPhone is compatible with it by checking the serial number and make sure the manufacture date is not after week 28 2011
    Serial will be xx2811xxxxxx

    that is NOT correct.

if there 3rd number is 2 you will brick your phone.

The actual date is the 29th week of 2011, but the serial number lists the year FIRST then the month, so if it is before xx129xxxx you are ok.

If it is xx130xxxx you will brick, if the 3rd number is a zero or a nine you are ok to flash.

if you are unsure just tell us what the 3rd 4th and 5th numbers are in your serial and I can direct you correctly.

Since I'm back on an iPhone till I get my SGS3 I will be more active on these forums to try to help out.

your third digit is 9, meaning it was manufactured in 2009.

You are safe to flash the baseband.

Sunday you can downgrade it back to 5.13.04 and unlock with GPS

Thank you for this useful information but I thought once you flashed the ipad baseband you couldn't change it back or to a different bb.

IOS hacker MuscleNerd has a working 6.15.00 downgrade to ANY previous baseband, such as 5.13.04 (which is unlockable AND GPS works fine) he is going to release ASAP, maybe Sunday.

    Twitter

you have to be on the ipad BB for this to work, so flash the Ipad BB today, unlock, then on Sunday (or the soon release) downgrade to 5.13.04 and unlock again (with working GPS)

    That's right!

But you have to upgrade to 6.15.00 first
