Recording and the red flashing bar

I have a requirement from a customer to produce an app for the iPhone that records in the background. For obvious reasons the customer would like the red flashing bar not to be there.

Does anyone know of any way to do this?

I've looked through the Springboard code but I can't find anything likely. I noticed that SBProcess has an "isRecording" property but I have no idea if this is what iOS uses or, indeed, how to hook it and set it to "NO".

Any help and advice would be much appreciated
