so I just spent a day unlocking and jailbreaking a old first gen iphone that somebody gave to me a while back .I was trying to put anrgy birds on it and when i went to the app store it told me that it was incompatable I need to have 4.0 .I know that the fisrt gen only goes up to 3.1.3 but is there any way around this that anybody knows about ?Any help with this would be great thanks.
Using an older version of Angry Birrds I guess, Although I'm not sure where you'd get that from :)
I,m glad this is just gonna be a toy for my daugther iphones are such a pain in the butt .Android makes things so much better and your don,t have to worry about being sued .I guess I will just have to find some other older games that she would like any suggestions would be great.
Search Google for Angry Birds IPA. You will have to install AppSync. Then you can install the Angry Birds IPA. I had an older version of Angry Birds on my 1st gen iPhone and it worked just fine. I thought it was v1.42, but not sure.
Android isn't that much better when it comes to Angry Birds. Angry Birds won't even run with reasonable framerates on a 528 or 600MHz ARM11 Android phone, it seems to require at least 1GHz Snapdragon at minimum.

I checked and actually, the version on my first-gen iPhone is v1.5.0, so 1.5.x probably works. Yeah, don't get the paid one for legal reasons, although it's out there and easy to find! ;)
I'm thinking it doesn't have anything to do with chip architecture or even speed, but the inefficiency of Android. I'm completely speculating, but I think that most Android apps are written in Java and executed by the Dalvik JVM and so bytecode is converted to machine code during execution. I think, but I'm not certain, that Objective C on the iPhone is a compiled language and therefore runs faster and more efficiently.
Snapdragon is a Cortex-A8 chip which is ARMv7 architecture, therefore is powerful enough that the Java code can run fast enough. Desire Z has a Snapdragon 2nd generation and is also ARMv7, main difference being improved GPU and 45nm process.
The 1st gen iPhone and iPhone 3G both use an ARM11 family processor, ARMv6 architecture. Even at a slow 420MHz, they can run Angry Birds v1.5.0 as well as a Android with 1GHz Snapdragon. This makes me think the chip architecture isn't the cause of why Angry Birds can't run on a 528 or 600MHz ARMv6 chip in Android.
So only thing I can think of is just that Android itself with its VM model is just less efficient. That seems to make sense too, because even the UI of my old 1st gen iPhone at 420MHz is significantly smoother and more responsive than Android on a 528MHz phone.
Possibly although most 528Mhz phones (Hero for example) are actually ARMv5, We'd need to get someone who has an ARM6 device (Aka.. Nexus One) Downclocked to 420Mhz to see if it runs as smoothly as an older iPhoneQuote:

420MHz first-gen iPhone and 3G are the same ARM version as the 528MHz phones like the Hero, so the reason Angry Birds can't run on a 528MHz Hero is probably due to Android being less efficient. A down-clocked Hero would be equivalent in hardware to an older iPhone.
I did read that iPhone's Objective C is definitely a compiled language and iPhone apps are native ARM binaries because all iPhones use ARM processors. Android apps are processor independent and always run in the Dalvik VM. That's pretty cool because you can run the same Android apps on an Android device running x86 or Hitachi SH4 processor for example, but it's definitely not going to be as efficient as running compiled ARM binaries.
